Red-M, launched in May 2000, is a pioneer in mobile communications solutions designed to enable wireless access to data, video and voice services within the workplace and public concourses. A subsidiary of Madge Networks, Red-M is headquartered in Slough, UK, with offices in the US and Germany. Red-M recognises that the convergence between the traditional internet and wireless voice technologies, combined with major growth in mobile communications devices such as laptop computers, mobile phones, PDAs and WAP smart phones, has produced a significant increase in new mobile business applications and mobile commerce. Red-M is focused on extending this mobility into the work environment, enabling permanent access to the internet, company intranet and other data, voice and videodata services from anywhere within the workplace or public areas. At the heart of its strategy is Bluetooth, the emergent short-range wireless technology which is supported by more than 1,900 companies. Through a combination of the Linux operating system and Bluetooth technology, Red-M is developing mobile solutions which provide a platform for the delivery of advanced m-commerce applications. Its first products will be available by the end of this year. More... |
