An electronic supply chain offers undoubted cost savings. And enterprises who are debating the best approach to electronic supply chain management (e-SCM) may find themselves galvanised into action by a key supplier or customer insisting that they work this way. It is therefore imperative that organisations begin to assess their management of an inevitable electronic supply chain, particularly as this may well involve a rethink of key business processes. Analysts predict an inexorable rise in the use of e-supply chains. As Forrester Research says: "The real driver behind Europe's e-commerce growth will be online business trade, which will account for nearly $1.4 trillion of Europe's total online trade in 2004. These revenues will come from the efforts of industry leaders to pull entire sectors online and the emergence of e-marketplaces to facilitate online business trade." More... |
