E-business hype centres on websites and consumer sales. But e-business success centres on accelerating supply chain processes so that they perform at the same pace as the electronic markets in both B2B and B2C. All e-businesses, particularly manufacturing and distribution companies, face increasing pressure from global competitors. E-business success leads to rapid business volume growth and heightened customer expectations of delivery and service cycle times. The importance of effective supply chain management is critical because it affects both customer satisfaction and a company's costs, direct and indirect. The e-business supply chain must perform as an integrated, real-time system, forward to customers and back to suppliers.
