Switzerland-based Orenburg, with offices across Europe and the US aims to bring a new approach to the business intelligence (BI) market: the combination of an innovative, programming-free toolkit with a strategy entirely based on partners. Orenburg believes that BI software currently provides only the basics of decision support: accessing and navigating the information. To provide a solution to meet business needs, companies have to choose between expensive development solutions that require programming and packaged analytical applications. According to a recent IDC report on analytical applications, customisation is needed to create the applications decision makers demand. Companies go through the difficult process of modifying and/or enhancing an existing packaged application. Alternatively, consultants are hired to pull together the solution, often with long projects. In both cases, consultants are under great pressure to meet time and cost targets, often having to contend with intractable technology and not allowing them to transfer their true value and knowledge. |
