Logica spreads its wings

Gains in the UK, Germany and Asia Pacific helped Logica to pre-tax profits up 60% for the year to 30 June 2001.

Logica bucked the IT services trend by lifting profits impressively to $226.9 million on revenues up 34% to $1.65 billion. UK operations showed 30% revenue growth.

Managing director and chief executive, Martin Read, said: “In a more challenging market environment, Logica has delivered for an eighth successive year.” Read said the company could look forward with confidence to another good year in an equally challenging environment.

The November 2000 acquisition of pdv in Germany added to organic growth of 10% in continental Europe for a total gain of 40% to $369 million.

In Asia Pacific/Middle East, growth of 61% reflects Logica’s strength in mobile network business across the region.

The acquisition of MITS in Australia was also a major contributor to the strong performance of the Asia Pacific region.
