Manugistics provides enterprise profit optimisation (EPO) and e-marketplace solutions, to help companies optimise the supply/demand network from design and procurement through to pricing and delivery. EPO combines the cost-reduction focus of supply chain management (SCM) solutions and the revenue-generating capacity of pricing and revenue optimisation (PRO). When first introduced, SCM solutions enabled companies to improve planning and decision making across their key business processes, to the overall benefit of their internal supply chain. They enabled companies to better forecast demand for their products or services, leading to reduced storage costs and the production of less unwanted, excess stock. SCM solutions improved the entire manufacturing and distribution processes, and also covered areas such as transportation logistics, short-term planning (providing accurate availability information at the point of order) and longer-term planning (pointing to business areas where production should be increased or discontinued). |
