Many companies’ first e-business initiatives bear a striking similarity to Frankenstein’s monster. Although the individual pieces may look familiar, the overall result has frequently proved horrifying. Worse still, in some cases it has developed a life of its own which can threaten the health of the enterprise.

The question now is whether organisations can get their creations to perform as planned, or whether they would be better going back to the drawing board and coming up with some new ideas of what e-business really represents for them.
