E-Business (April 2002) Summary
Like so many other aspects of IT, e-business
seems to have slipped into neutral (if not fully
into reverse) in the past year. Or perhaps it
would be more accurate to say that the
emphasis has shifted and that expectations
have been revised.
Pat Sweet sets the scene in her typically
thorough overview. David Cotterill of
Cambridge Technology Partners sees the field
ripe for consultants. André Cichowlas of Cap
Gemini Ernst & Young looks at the nuts and
bolts of coding in the real-time context of
e-business. Hubert d’Hondt of Andersen
Business Consulting describes the role of
workflow in e-procurement. Adam Jacobs of
Cataloga discusses the uncertain enthusiasm
for e-procurement in general. Dr Hermann
Simon of Simon-Kucher proposes positive
strategic thinking to counter the state of the
economy. ITnet’s Les Francis weighs the pros
and cons of relationship management.
In related features, we present highlights
from PMP’s European Strategic Alliances
research programme and a report from the
second Annual Consultants’ Forum.
Throughout this issue we feature profiles of
suppliers of e-business software and services.
This information, supplied by the companies,
