Recent years have seen companies adopting a much broader approach to their supply chain applications. But current economic conditions are now forcing many to retreat back to basics. The key question for many organisations is how to address immediate concerns while still keeping a sharp eye on the bigger picture.

One of the biggest changes in the last few years has been the switch from viewing the supply chain as a strictly linear concept, where all items travel in one direction along one line of production (from sources of raw materials to finished product in the consumer’s hand), to seeing supply chains as networks or collaborations.
